I'm not exaggerating here: other than what I'm wearing on the train, this Old Navy jumpsuit is the only clothing item packed in my small suitcase to head upstate for Christmas. After all, my bag's already chock-full of presents (plus my dog's essentials), and I'm only planning to lounge at home with my parents anyway.

But even if we do head to dinner one night, my trial run wearing this last weekend in NYC proved it's the best choice for anyone needing for a versatile lounging outfit that still looks nice if you have to pop outside the house. First off, the french-terry fabric is a perfect in-between weight to wear solo (or under the cardigan I'll wear on my ride up). It pairs well with both boots and cozy slippers and looks just as nice at the dining table as it'll feel watching TV on the couch afterward. With a loose fit (but also a drawstring waist for shape), it's like wearing pajamas in public . . . without actually wearing pajamas in public.

Now, I'm a recent convert from my first true love — dresses — but this jumpsuit has me fully embracing the alternative for the winter break and beyond. If you're looking for an all-in-one, multipurpose outfit, too, find more information on the fit and sizing (and see all the available colors) ahead.

Since I love anything that even hints at pink, I chose an Old Navy Long-Sleeve Cropped French-Terry Utility Jumpsuit in Trident Maple ($55) which looks like a sun-faded brick in person.

I ordered this jumpsuit in petite and regular lengths to compare but ended up keeping the regular length (size small). I liked that it hit my 5' 3" frame at the ankle, leaving less naked leg in colder months, but will still look cute with flat sandals come spring. Plus, it's roomy enough that I can sprawl out without feeling constricted . . . but not so oversized that it's shapeless either.

I'd love to slip on an oatmeal-colored cardigan and create a whole monotone vibe with this creamy Old Navy Long-Sleeve Cropped French-Terry Utility Jumpsuit in Moonsand ($55) next.

The shade of this Old Navy Long-Sleeve Cropped French-Terry Utility Jumpsuit in Dark Bottle ($55) would look especially nice with my favorite brown footwear . . . even if those "shoes" are actually slippers.
